Senator Bernie Sanders recently defended his private jet travel with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for their “Saving Democracy – One Private Plane Ride at a Time” tour. The multi-home-owning socialist believes taking private jets is critical to get his message across to as many people as possible. And his message is: I don’t want to associate with “icky” people.
“Look, I’m a big deal,” said Sanders. “I think you should know that. You think I should, you know, mingle with the people who fly United or something? Have you seen the size of the peanut bags they give you these days? Not that I have any personal knowledge of that, but one of my constituents, whom I made sure was a good distance away from me because they were, you know, icky, told me. When I fly on private jets, I get big bags of peanuts, like the ones you get at Costco.”
Sanders noted that he is 83 years old and can emit as many greenhouse gases as he wants.
“I think I’m entitled,” he stated. “I mean, I’m from Vermont and I’m old. Plus, I’m cranky, very cranky. Part of being socialist is being cranky…and miserable. Socialism is miserable. When I fly on private jets, I’m slightly less miserable. But, as a socialist, I should also point out that I love ‘the people’. It’s just actual human beings I can’t stand.”
Sanders was asked what AOC’s excuses are, since she isn’t old and cranky. He disputed some of that characterization.
“Sure, AOC isn’t old, but cranky, my friend – I can’t hold a candle to her,” Sanders said. “On the plane, the private jet, of course, she was always bitching about this or that. She must have been off her meds or something. Plus, she ate most of the peanuts. Hell, for the amount of peanuts she left me, I could have flown United.”
