Vice President Kamala Harris recently came out in support of embattled Joe Biden. She spoke to a group of 6th graders at a girls’ summer field hockey camp to ensure everyone understood that she stood clearly behind the president. We have an excerpt of her speech below.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls and trans of all ages, I am here today to throw my undying support behind the person who has led us to where we are today and where we will go in the future, to imagine what can be, unburdened by what has been. I’m also here to speak a little bit about Joe Biden.
It is important to realize where we are in relation to where we have been, unburdened, of course, not to mention where we will be. You see, we must contextualize within the context of the contextualization of the entire process of being. For being is to be in the present while remembering where we came from in relation to where we are going, unburdened by where we have been, wherever that was.
So, feel free to unburden yourself from what has been, just like I have done. That’s why I hardly ever mention Willie Brown anymore. But let us not forget that to be unburdened means to be without burden, unless there is something to be burdened about. But still, even those burdens must be understood within the context of the unburdening process, which itself is a burden to be unburdened of.
One of our lifetime's great accomplishments is that we can now see what the future holds, provided we hold on to that future while unburdening ourselves from what has been. Because what has been was probably bad, except when seen in the context of what was good in relation to what was bad, or even neutral. Neutral is itself a social construct that may or may not have any meaning as it relates to the goodness or badness of what has been, provided you have unburdened yourself of that.
I think all of this is very clear.
Following the vice president’s speech several of the campers were asked for their reactions.
“I don’t know what she was talking about,” said Nellie Withcomb.
“She said something about being unburdened by what has been,” Molly Friend noted. “I think it means I can probably stay up past my bedtime now.”
“Huh?” Julie Simplot asked as she unburdened herself of the apple juice packet her mom packed for her.
Janet Hoodwink, one of the coaches at the camp said, “She was truly inspiring. I, too, have been unburdening myself of what has been, like that time at the KISS concert or that incident with Jimmy Botkins when we were freshmen in high school. Talk about the need to do some unburdening. Whew!”
DEI rules…oy vey !! 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Good job! I understood every word. 🤪
