Astronomers have recently incorporated the use of the James Webb Space Telescope to observe what they refer to as an “inside-out” growth of a galaxy in what they consider to be the early universe. They define the early universe as anything that occurred pre-disco. They note that this clearly splits the Bee Gees career into two separate eras – the early universe (before Saturday Night Fever) and the later universe (post-Saturday Night Fever).
Until the use of the Webb telescope, it had been impossible to study the galaxy growth of anything so early in the history of the universe. Before Webb, the farthest back it could go was the Britney Spears-Backstreet Boys era, which had caused consternation among researchers, especially the Britney Spears part.
This galaxy in question is about one hundred times smaller than the Milky Way, but is quite mature for its age and hardly ever plays with its food at the table. The astronomers said the galaxy is like a large city and has a dense collection of stars at its core but is less dense once you reach the galactic “suburbs”, where even though there are longer commutes, the schools tend to be better and there are more youth soccer fields. ABC’s Martha Raddatz reported that astronomers did note that in a few of the galactic “suburbs,” only a handful of apartment complexes were taken over by some Venezuelan gangs.
Researchers say studying this and similar galaxies helps us understand how they transform from clouds of gas into James Carville – or maybe it’s the other way around.
How all this plays out as we move forward into 2025 remains unclear, but several retailers have begun stocking up on the James Webb Space Telescope to make sure they have plenty on the shelves come the holiday season. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver also announced that the Los Angeles Lakers and Denver Nuggets will play a pre-season game there next year.
